USB Traffic Generator

The USB Traffic Generator is an invaluable development and test tool for Universal Serial Bus designers. The USB Traffic Generator allows the user to exercise their USB design under faulty bus conditions and pinpoint areas of failure. Sophisticated software enables the user to customize the bus traffic to stress a particular function of the USB device, facilitating the development of robust USB devices.
A fully programmable stand alone board generates the desired USB traffic, and acts as a virtual host for the development of USB devices and hubs. Through an easy to use PC Windows program, designers can create unique USB traffic patterns to stress specific functions of the device. The user can create specific timing frames or insert commands between packets, and every field in each USB packet, (Sync, PID, Frame #, Addr, Endp, Data, CRC, etc.), can be specified. Designers can also customize a prerecorded data file in which any packet can be modified bit by bit, deleted or new packets added. The USB Traffic Generator software can simulate marginal or even illegal conditions to further stress the functionality and durability of the USB device. Once the user has created a data pattern, the Traffic Generator software creates two files that are designed to program the D + and D -EPROM devices on the Traffic Generator board.
